Visual
Visitor applies multiple layers of email validation before delivering
identified contact data to ensure you receive high-quality, deliverable email
addresses.
Email validation process
Historical
confidence score: When an email address is first
identified, it is assigned a historical confidence score based on prior
validation results, domain reputation, and data source reliability. Scores
range from 0-100.
Real-time
verification: When you request contact details
(e.g., via the Who to Contact search), Visual Visitor performs a real-time
email verification check against the address. This is a live SMTP check
that confirms whether the mailbox exists and is accepting messages.
Credit
return policy: If the real-time verification
returns a confidence score of 40 or below, the contact credit used to
retrieve that contact is automatically returned to your account. You are
not charged for unverifiable contacts.
What types of emails are excluded?
• Role-based emails (e.g., info@, support@,
admin@) - these typically reach a group inbox, not the individual identified.
• High-confidence catch-all addresses (if
your catch-all filter is enabled).
• Addresses with very low historical
confidence scores that fall below your account's minimum threshold.
Understanding the confidence score
• 90-100: Very high confidence. Safe to use for outreach and CRM upload.
• 70-89: Good confidence. Suitable for most outreach, minor bounce risk.
• 41-69: Moderate confidence. Use with caution. Consider email warm-up before large
sends.
• 40
and below: Low confidence. Contact credit is returned.
Address is not recommended for use.
To
filter your saved contacts by confidence score, use the confidence score filter
in the Who to Contact search interface.
