How to Send Visual Visitor Leads to Slack Using Zapier Webhooks

You can receive real-time Visual Visitor visitor alerts directly in a Slack channel using a Zapier webhook, giving your sales team instant notification without logging into the dashboard.

Setup steps

 

1. In Zapier:
   Create a new Zap. Set the trigger to Webhooks by Zapier > Catch Hook. Copy the generated webhook URL.

 

2. In Visual Visitor:  Go to Configuration > Webhook and paste the Zapier URL as your webhook endpoint. Set notification rules (e.g., ICP Tier 1 visitors only). Save and test.

 

3. In Zapier - add the Slack action:  Add an action step using the Slack app. Select Send Channel Message or Send Direct Message.

 

4. Format your Slack message:  Map Visual Visitor fields to a readable message format. Example: New ICP Visitor: [first_name] [last_name] at [company_name] just visited [page_url]. Email: [email]

 

5. Assign the message to the appropriate Slack channel (e.g., #sales-alerts or #website-visitors).

 

6. Turn on the Zap.

Best practices

 

•      Filter by ICP tier:  Add a Zapier filter step to only send Slack messages for Tier 1 ICP visitors. Sending all visitors to Slack will create noise and cause your team to ignore the alerts.

 

•      Include key fields only:  Keep the Slack message concise - name, company, page visited, and email. Avoid including personal demographic fields that are not relevant to the sales context.

 

•      Notify specific people:  Use Slack's @mention feature in your message template to tag the appropriate sales rep based on territory or industry.
