What's the purpose of Online Reputation Management?

Online Reputation Management (ORM) is the act of monitoring, influencing, growing, and managing what’s being said about your persons and/or business online. Your online reputation is how others see you or your company when they search online.

Online reputation management (ORM) means taking control of the online conversation. Its techniques and strategies ensure that people find the right materials when they look for you on the Internet. As consumers are now the ones who sculpt a company’s reputation collectively by providing real-time feedback online.

The purpose of online reputation management is to create balance, counteract misleading trends, and allow you to put your best foot forward.  The ever-increasing level of transparency that’s expected of businesses today makes it essential to monitor and actively manage your company’s reputation on a minute-to-minute basis.

Your company’s reputation is how it is viewed by consumers, potential employees, and investors. Any and all of these factors can be influenced by one negative review, tweet, or Facebook post.

If you don’t have a strategy in place that includes someone promptly replying to these complaints as they come in, within 24 hours, your brand’s image could be tainted in a matter of retweets, likes, or shares. It could look like your customer's response is not important to the company, which is something you never want to convey.

The ever-increasing level of transparency that’s expected of businesses today makes it essential to monitor and actively manage your company’s reputation on a minute-to-minute basis.
