How Do Identification Budget Caps Work, and How Do I Set Them to Zero to Pause?

The identification budget cap controls how many visitors Visual Visitor will identify per month for an account. Once the cap is reached, no new identifications occur until the next month's reset (on the 1st of each month) or until you manually increase the cap.

How to set the identification budget cap

  1. Log in to the account (or sub-account for resellers) where you want to configure the budget.

  1. Go to Customers > Edit Customer > Number of Allowed Visitors

  1. Enter the maximum number of IDs per month you want to allow (e.g., 1,000, 5,000, 10,000).

  1. Save changes.

Setting the budget to zero (pause)

Setting the identification budget cap to 0 IDs effectively pauses all new identification for that account. This is useful when:

·       A client account is being temporarily deactivated but you want to retain their configuration and historical data.

·       You are in a setup/testing phase and do not want to consume budget yet.

·       A client is between campaigns and wants to avoid charges during the off-season.

Effect of a zero budget:
The tracking script remains on the website and continues loading, but Visual Visitor will not identify or log new visitors until the budget is increased. Existing data is preserved.

Notes
As a reseller, you allocate identification budgets from your master account's total pool across your sub-accounts. Ensure your total sub-account allocations do not exceed your master account's contracted volume.
