How to Use ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity to Create and Manage Facebook Ads with Visual Visitor Person Level Ads

How to Use ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity to Create and Manage Facebook Ads with Visual Visitor Person Level Ads

Meta now supports AI-assisted ad management through its Meta ads AI connectors, including an official ads MCP server at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. This allows supported AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity to connect to your Meta ad account so you can create, manage, and analyze Facebook and Instagram campaigns using natural language.

Visual Visitor Person Level Ads can help you turn person-level visitor intelligence into sharper audience strategy, campaign ideas, and follow-up workflows.

When paired with Meta's ads MCP connector, your AI assistant can help move faster from "who is visiting my site?" to "what ad should I run next?"

What You Can Do

With Meta's ads MCP server, an approved AI assistant can help with campaign reporting, ad creation, ad set management, catalog management, signal diagnostics, and Meta Business Help Center troubleshooting. Meta says the connector is designed to use real campaign context and performance data rather than generic ad advice.

Common Visual Visitor Person Level Ads workflows include:

  1. Create retargeting campaigns:  Ask your AI assistant to build campaigns aimed at known visitor segments, such as high-intent website visitors, repeat visitors, or visitors from target companies.
  2. Analyze campaign performance:  Ask which campaigns are producing the lowest cost per qualified person-level visitor, lead, or booked meeting.
  3.  Improve ad messaging: Ask the AI assistant to turn visitor behavior into new ad copy ideas, headlines, and calls to action.
  4. Manage campaign structure: Ask the AI assistant to suggest or create campaigns, ad sets, and ads based on audience segments and funnel stage.
  5. Diagnose tracking issues: Ask the AI assistant to review signal health and quality so you can prioritize tracking improvements.

Why it matters:  Traditional retargeting wastes as much as 80% of ad spend on visitors who were never real prospects. Person Level Ads

focuses only on verified, in-market individuals;  which is why PLA campaigns typically convert at up to 7%, compared to the 3–5% average

for conventional targeting.

Before You Start

You need access to a Meta ad account with the correct permissions before connecting an AI assistant. Meta says actions taken through the connector require user

authorization through the AI agent.

You should also have:

  1. Access to your Visual Visitor account.
  2. A defined Person Level Ads audience or segment.
  3. Access to ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity.
  4. Access to the Meta ad account, business portfolio, pixel, and any relevant catalog.
  5. Permission from your organization to use AI tools with advertising account data.

Connect the Meta Ads MCP Server

Use the following MCP server URL when your AI tool asks for the remote MCP server address:

https://mcp.facebook.com/ads

Meta lists ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity as supported AI tools for the ads MCP connector. Setup instructions may differ by AI platform, so follow the connection steps

inside the AI tool you are using.

Option 1: Use ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT.
  1. Go to the area where you manage connectors, tools, or MCP connections.
  1. Add a new MCP server.
  1. Sign in with your Meta account when prompted.
  1. Select the correct Meta business portfolio and ad account.
  1. Review the permissions carefully.
  1. Approve the connection.

Option 2: Use Claude

  1. Open Claude.
  1. Go to the area where you manage integrations, connectors, or MCP servers.
  1. Add the Meta ads MCP server.
  1. Complete the Meta authentication flow.
  1. Select the correct ad account.
  1. Confirm that the connector is available in your Claude conversation.

Option 3: Use Perplexity

  1. Open Perplexity.
  1. Go to the area where you manage connected tools, integrations, or MCP servers.
  1. Add the Meta ads MCP server.
  1. Sign in with Meta and approve access.
  1. Confirm that Perplexity can see the Meta ads connector.

Common issue:  If you manage multiple Meta ad accounts, double-check which account you authenticated with. Connecting to

the wrong account is the most frequent setup mistake — and it's easy to do if you're logged into a personal Facebook account

instead of your business one.

Use this workflow when you want to create or manage Facebook and Instagram ads based on Person Level Ads intelligence.

Step 1: Choose the Audience

Start in Visual Visitor and identify the audience you want to advertise to. Examples include repeat visitors, visitors from target areas, visitors who viewed pricing pages, or visitors who matched a specific buyer profile.

Suggested prompt:

I want to create a Facebook and Instagram campaign using Visual Visitor Person Level Ads data. The audience is repeat website visitors who viewed our pricing page but did not request a demo. Help me turn this into a campaign strategy.

Step 2: Ask the AI Assistant for a Campaign Plan

Before creating anything in Meta, ask the AI assistant to propose a campaign structure. This helps you review the objective, audience, creative angle, budget, and measurement plan before any changes are made.

Suggested prompt:

Using the connected Meta Ads account, recommend a campaign structure for this Visual Visitor Person Level Ads audience. Include campaign objective, ad sets, budget suggestion, targeting approach, creative angles, and success metrics. Do not create anything yet.

Step 3: Review the Plan

Review the suggested campaign plan before approving action. Confirm that the objective, budget, audience, geography, and messaging match your goals.

Check for:

  1. Correct brand or business unit.
  2. Correct Meta ad account.
  3. Correct geography.
  4. Correct campaign objective.
  5. Appropriate daily or lifetime budget.
  6. Approved ad copy and creative direction.
  7. Proper tracking and conversion events.

Meta campaign type note:  Always use Traffic Ads for Person Level Ads campaigns. Lead Generation Ads keep users inside

Facebook, which prevents the click-through tracking that makes PLA data useful. If the AI recommends a Lead Gen

objective, override it.

Step 4: Create the Campaign

Once the plan looks correct, ask the AI assistant to create the campaign. Meta's connector supports creating and editing ads, ad sets, and campaigns, but actions require authorization through the AI agent.

Suggested prompt:

Create this campaign in Meta Ads using the approved structure below. Pause the campaign after creation so I can review it in Ads Manager before launch.
[Paste the approved campaign structure]

Step 5: Review in Meta Ads Manager

Open Meta Ads Manager and review the campaign before launch. Make sure the campaign, ad sets, ads, creative, destination URLs, tracking, and budget are correct.

  1. Campaign status is paused until approved.
  2. Campaign objective is correct.
  3. Pixel or conversion event is correct.
  4. Destination URL is correct.
  5. UTMs are included.
  6. Creative matches the offer.
  7. Audience and geography are correct.
  8. Budget and schedule are correct.

Step 6: Launch or Approve Changes

After reviewing the campaign in Meta Ads Manager, either launch it manually or ask your AI assistant to activate it if your organization allows AI-assisted campaign activation. Any action should be reviewed before approval.

Suggested prompt:

The campaign has been reviewed and approved. Activate the campaign named [campaign name]. Do not change the budget, audience, creative, or schedule.

Example Prompts

Use these prompts with ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity after you connect the Meta ads MCP server.

Create a Campaign From a Person Level Ads Segment

Create a Facebook and Instagram campaign plan for a Visual Visitor Person Level Ads segment made up of high-intent website visitors who visited our demo page in the last 30 days. Recommend the campaign objective, ad set structure, creative angles, budget range, and KPIs. Do not create the campaign yet.

Analyze Performance

Analyze our Meta campaigns from the last 30 days. Identify which campaigns are generating the strongest engagement from high-intent website visitors and which campaigns should be paused, adjusted, or tested further.

Improve Ad Copy

Review the current ads in our connected Meta account and suggest three new ad variations for a Person Level Ads audience of repeat visitors who viewed product pages but did not convert.

Diagnose Tracking and Signals

Check signal quality for our Meta ad account and identify any issues that could affect retargeting, attribution, or campaign optimization.

Create a Weekly Optimization Summary

Create a weekly summary of Meta ad performance. Include spend, leads, cost per lead, top campaigns, underperforming campaigns, and recommended next actions for

our Person Level Ads audiences.

Best Practices:

  1. Start with a plan first:  Ask the AI assistant to recommend a campaign structure before creating or editing campaigns.
  2. Use paused drafts:  When possible, ask the assistant to create campaigns in paused status so your team can review them in Ads Manager.
  3. Use clear audience names:  Name Visual Visitor Person Level Ads audiences in a way that makes campaign reporting easy to understand
  4. Add UTMs:  Use consistent UTM parameters so you can compare Meta campaign traffic against Visual Visitor and CRM outcomes.
  5. Review every action:  Approve campaign creation, budget changes, and launches only after reviewing the details.
  6. Connect ad data to lead quality:  Do not optimize only for clicks or form fills. Compare campaigns against qualified visitors, known contacts, demos, opportunities, and revenue.

Suggested Naming Convention

Use a consistent naming convention so AI-assisted reporting is easier.

VV PLA | [Audience] | [Offer] | [Geo] | [Date]

Examples:

VV PLA | Pricing Visitors | Demo Offer | US | 2026-05
VV PLA | Target Accounts | Franchise Growth Guide | US | 2026-05
VV PLA | Repeat Visitors | Retargeting | Southeast | 2026-05

Naming restriction:  Avoid financial terms (income, net worth), demographic descriptors (age groups, race), or family status

indicators in custom audience names; Meta's terms prohibit these, and the audience upload will fail.

Common Issues

I Do Not See the Meta Ads MCP Connector

Meta says the ads AI connectors are in open beta, and users may not have access to the feature yet. If the connector is not available, check whether your AI tool supports remote MCP servers and whether your Meta account has access to the beta.

The AI Assistant Cannot Access the Right Ad Account

Make sure you authenticated with the correct Meta user and selected the correct business portfolio or ad account. If you work with multiple Meta ad accounts, confirm the ad account ID before asking the assistant to create or edit anything.

The AI Assistant Suggests the Wrong Budget

Ask the assistant to explain the budget recommendation before approving any change. You can also set hard limits in the prompt, such as "do not recommend more than $50 per day" or "do not change any live campaign budgets."

The Campaign Was Created but Should Not Launch Yet

Ask the assistant to create campaigns in paused status. Then review the campaign in Meta Ads Manager before launch.

Suggested prompt:

Create the campaign in paused status only. Do not activate it until I explicitly approve launch.

Reporting Does Not Match Visual Visitor or CRM Data

Meta reporting, Visual Visitor visitor intelligence, and CRM outcomes may measure different parts of the funnel. Use UTMs, consistent campaign names, and CRM source fields to connect ad performance to person-level visitor quality and sales outcomes.

Security and Approval Guidelines

Treat AI-assisted ad management like giving a team member access to your ad account. Meta says the connector can pull information and perform actions, and any actions require user authorization through the AI agent.

  1. Require human approval before launching campaigns.
  2. Require human approval before increasing budgets.
  3. Require human approval before editing live campaigns.
  4. Limit access to authorized users.
  5. Avoid pasting sensitive customer data into prompts unless your organization has approved that workflow.
  6. Keep a record of approved changes.
