What are plugins, extensions, and add-ons?
The terms "plugins", "extensions", and "add-ons" all refer to the same thing - a third-party software that provides new capabilities to a host program on a computer. Simply put, they allow you to perform new functions that otherwise wouldn't be possible. For example, some plugins are designed to reduce the number of programs you need running to perform simple tasks.
While some plugins are smaller versions of programs embedded into a different piece of software that you can access as needed, other plugins work with you all the time (i.e. Grammarly).
Developers are increasingly aware that most users rely on a few features regularly, rather than an entire platform. Plugins allow users to pick and choose which features are valuable to them.
Which plugin should you use?
Visual Visitor users have access to two plugins, one for email tracking and the other for prospecting. Our prospecting plugin, also known as our Who to Contact Plugin, allows users to quickly research new leads without leaving the lead's website or LinkedIn page. How does it work? All you have to do is click on the Plugin icon. This triggers a sidebar to appear on the right-hand side with useful information including a company description and a list of its employees. When you click on one of the employees, the Plugin uncovers their job title, skillset, alma mater, and contact info.
Visual Visitor's Who to Contact Plugin was designed to reduce the amount of time you spend prospecting. Instead of digging for company info, let the info come to you by simply opening the Who to Contact Plugin.
