Does Visual Visitor Capture International Website Traffic?

Visual Visitor is primarily a United States–based identification service. While the tracking script can be installed on any website worldwide, the amount of visitor data that can be identified depends heavily on where the website visitor is located.

This article explains what can and cannot be captured from international website traffic.

What Data Is Available for Non-US Visitors?

+Person (B2C Consumer Identification)

The +Person platform is designed for U.S.-based consumer identity resolution.

With this product:

  • U.S. visitors may be identified at the person level
  • This can include name, email address, and demographic attributes when available

Visitors from:

  • Canada
  • Europe
  • Australia
  • Asia
  • and other international regions

will not be identified at the individual consumer level.

+Employee (B2B Company Identification)

The +Employee platform can sometimes return company-level information for international business visitors, but coverage outside the United States is more limited.

Possible non-U.S. match data may include:

  • Company name
  • Industry
  • Business size

However:

  • individual professional names and email addresses for non-U.S. employees are not available
  • many international visits may return no identifiable match at all

Summary: What Happens With International Traffic?

The script still tracks all website sessions, but international visitors will typically result in one of the following:

  • limited company-level information, or
  • no match returned

Full person-level identification is primarily available for U.S.-based traffic.

Can Canadian Businesses Use Visual Visitor?

Yes.

Businesses located in Canada or other countries can absolutely subscribe to and use the platform.

The system will still monitor all website traffic, but the strongest identification results will come from U.S.-based visitors.

For example, a Canadian business selling products or services into the United States can still gain significant value by identifying U.S. website visitors.

Canadian visitors to that same site, however, will typically return minimal or no identifiable consumer data.

If you only want reports focused on geographic areas where identification is most effective, Visual Visitor offers filtering tools to help keep your data cleaner.

Available options include:

  • ZIP Code Filtering — target specific U.S. markets or regions (reach out to support to enable Zip Code filtering)
  • Country Exclusion Filtering — exclude countries where identification is limited or unavailable (for Legacy platforms only)
  • State Filters - exclude states where you may not be doing business

These settings can help reduce non-actionable traffic in your reporting.
